Event Evaluations

Using the following criteria in your post, please develop a critique of your peers' event as presented in class on Monday, June 29th. This essay should be well developed using the criteria and relevant themes and vocabulary in the course, free of errors and purposeful as far as offering developmental criticism that will be helpful in improving the event structure for the future. This criticism would be used in the event closing meeting where you and the client communicate about the event and how it can be improved for the future.

Criteria:

Short synopsis of the event
Develop criticism for the six A's of the event experience (take each one individually)
Evaluate event communication, layout, safety, organization, customer service provisions, transitions from mini events and a full evaluation of the blog/web site components as related to the event promotion and usage for different purposes throughout the event process.

Each member of the event planning team should conduct her own evaluation of the event. This post is due no later than Tuesday, June 30th by 5pm. Then, you as one of the planners of your particular event, will respond to all of the criticism gathered for your event in a well developed and professional manner. You may explain certain protocol for why you did certain activities and such, you may thank the evaluator for the insight and you may explain how you would like to incorporate such detail in the future or how you would do so. The evaluation and then response (which you can respond to all the criticism in one post) is worth 25 points of your overall grade. Your response to criticism is due no later than Weds, July 1st by 5pm so that grading can be complete.

Sharing this Talk- Seth Godin on the Tribes We Lead

This talk gives some background on how movements start and successfully gather people together to hoist these opportunities into incredible epidemics-- connecting ideas and people who believe in them together. Seth Godin gives this notion life in his talk via TED Talks. How does this talk relate to the creation and execution of events? Please place your comment here before our next class meeting on June 1st. Consider this as you evaluate websites for your comparison paper. How do corporations, companies and not for profits utilize technology to build "tribes" of attendees and supporters of their events.

Web 2.0 in Event Planning

In addition to reviewing this presentation given in class on 5/20, read this article as it clearly describes the birth and progression of Web 2.0 by Tim O'Reilly.

Twitter vs. Google

For some time now, I have been discussing the usefulness of Twitter when it comes to doing searches because of its instantaneous nature and its ability to search your network of professionals and friends you choose to follow. Google is seeing this as well based on the drop in use and increase in Twitter searches. This article clearly shows the effects Twitter is having on gaining the information you need now! How does this notion translate to building events? How can Twitter be used efficiently as a communication tool in the field of event planning? Please post your answer to this after taking the link to the short article above, reviewing its content and our lecture in class on 5/20. Please post your answer no later than our class on 5/27.
